Alexander Lane RN MD (1803-1877) was a ship’s surgeon in the Royal Navy. He led an adventurous life and kept a detailed record of his life at sea. Alexander Lane RN MD: the Adventures of a Naval Surgeon was the second article I wrote and appeared in the 2019 edition of History Armagh p15-18 which can be viewed at History Armagh 2019
The first article covers his time ashore when he tried to make a go of being a surgeon in Armagh after his marriage and before later returning to sea.
